Marabout Sentimental

museum

The Marabout Sentimental in Grenelle is a small, peculiar monument that resembles a stone hut with a pointed, conical roof. It sits in the center of a local square, far removed from the grand architecture of central Paris. Local tradition holds that a soldier returning from the colonial wars in North Africa built it in the nineteenth century. He supposedly constructed the structure to resemble the shrines he saw abroad, dedicating it to a lost love he left behind in the desert.
