École Normale de Musique de Paris

The Alfred Cortot Hall is the heart of the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Its walls are lined with warm wood paneling and hidden lighting designed to mimic the feeling of a private chamber concert. When the pianist Alfred Cortot founded the school in nineteen nineteen, he wanted a space that felt intimate, where performers could connect directly with their audience without the distance of a grand stage. Every student here still learns in that exact same acoustic environment today.
