Square de bercy

The Square de Bercy sits within a cluster of buildings that once functioned as a sprawling center for the wine trade. The small park features a central fountain surrounded by iron railings that recall the industrial atmosphere of the nineteenth century. For decades, the ground beneath the park held tunnels and cellars where thousands of barrels of wine arrived by river barge. Workers rolled the casks from the nearby Seine before merchants inspected and redistributed the liquid across Paris.
