The Square de la Cerisaie sits atop a massive underground reservoir. While the surface functions as a quiet neighborhood park, the true structure is hidden below ground level. In the nineteen twenties, engineers needed to supply water to the growing population of Charenton-le-Pont. They carved out this space to hold millions of liters of water, ensuring a steady supply for the town. Today, a layer of earth and trees covers the concrete ceiling that supports the weight of the water below.
