Cimitero di Valmy

The Cimitero di Valmy stands out for its high stone walls and a heavy iron gate that sits oddly against the quiet residential street. This small plot serves as a final resting place for Italian political exiles who fled to Paris during the mid-nineteenth century. Giuseppe Mazzini, a key figure in the movement to unify Italy, helped establish this space to bury those who died in poverty far from home. A marble plaque inside names the men buried here, most now forgotten by history.
