Stoa Nikoloudi

The Stoa Nikoloudi is marked by a distinctive glass and iron roof that stretches between two buildings on Panepistimio Street. Built in the late nineteenth century, it served as a primary commercial arcade for wealthy Athenians, housing fine tailors and luxury goods. In the nineteen eighties, the architect Alexandros Tombazis redesigned the interior, adding the modern glass canopy. It remains a shortcut between major streets, preserving the original spirit of a sheltered path designed for merchants to display their wares to passersby.
