Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum of Rotterdam holds a collection of over one million objects, recognizable by the modern, glass-fronted building that sits right on the edge of the Leuvehaven harbor. It exists to document the city’s deep connection to the water, tracing its evolution from a small fishing village into the world’s largest port. The museum famously houses the Mataró model, a fifteenth-century ship model that remains the oldest of its kind in Europe, having survived centuries of change and conflict.
