The facade of the Collegium Witkowskiego is marked by the tall, carved stone portal facing the street, which features the emblem of the Jagiellonian University. This building serves as the home for the Department of Comparative Civilizations. It opened in eighteen seventy-two, designed by Henryk Marconi to house the university library. Students and scholars still walk through the same heavy oak doors that once opened for readers carrying manuscripts before the library collections were eventually moved to a larger facility across the city.
