Fonte da Sabuga

The Fonte da Sabuga features a facade of blue and white azulejo tiles depicting a fountain scene, framed by stone carved with the date seventeen eighty-seven. This fountain served as a vital public water source for the residents of the Sintra hills for generations. In the nineteenth century, aristocrats and travelers alike would stop here to drink the cold mountain water while climbing toward the town center. The tiles remain cool to the touch even on the hottest summer afternoons in the valley.
