The Penedo da Amizade is a sheer, towering granite face rising abruptly from the dense forest slopes of the Sintra mountains. Its name, the Rock of Friendship, came from a nineteenth-century legend involving two friends who scaled it together to prove their bond. While the climb is technical and unforgiving, it became a local hub for mountaineers seeking to master these vertical granite slabs.
