Fonte dos Pisões

landmark

The Fonte dos Pisões features a distinctive semicircular stone facade tucked into the hillside along the road to the Pena Palace. Built in eighteen ninety-two, it served as a vital water source for the workers and horses traveling the steep path toward the mountaintop estates. Local stonemasons carved the granite basin and the surrounding structure to mimic the romantic style popular in Sintra at the time. It remains a quiet stop where the sound of trickling water still breaks the mountain silence.
