Câmara Municipal de Sintra (sede)

The Câmara Municipal de Sintra is a bright white building with a distinctive, pointed clock tower that stretches toward the hills. It serves as the heart of local government, housed in a structure originally built in the early twentieth century by architect Adães Bermudes. Before this site became the administrative seat, a sixteenth-century convent occupied the ground. Workers discovered subterranean remains during later renovations, revealing that the site held layers of local activity long before the current offices were even drawn on paper.
