Rua das Padarias - Sintra PT

The Rua das Padarias sits on a steep, narrow incline in the heart of Sintra. Its name translates to Bakers Street, a title earned centuries ago when the road served as the town’s primary oven row. Grain shipments arrived here, and local bakers stoked fires that kept the area under a constant haze of flour and woodsmoke. Today, the street retains the tight, irregular stonework that once forced carts to scrape against the corners of these thick-walled houses as they climbed toward the castle.
