Bab Jadid

historic

Bab Jadid stands out as a stark, arched stone gateway set within the dense urban fabric of Al Balad. It served as a primary entrance for pilgrims arriving from the sea, funneling travelers directly into the heart of Jeddah’s old merchant district. During the construction of the outer walls in nineteen forty-seven, King Abdulaziz ordered this gate built to improve access for the growing influx of visitors. It remains a physical boundary marking the transition between the historical walled city and the expanding modern world.
