Baeshen Museum

The Baeshen House is a five-story tower of coral stone and heavy teak wood, identifiable by the intricate, enclosed wooden balconies that jut out over the street. Built by the wealthy merchant family of the same name in the late nineteenth century, it served as a hub for the spice and coffee trade. When Muhammad Saleh Baeshen lived here, he used the ground floor to store goods arriving by dhow from the Indian Ocean, while the upper levels housed his family and staff.
