Beit Nassif Museum

The Beit Nassif features wide, wooden roshan balconies that protrude from its limestone walls, designed to catch sea breezes while keeping the interior private. Sheikh Omar Nassif built this four-story house in eighteen eighty-one, using coral stone from the Red Sea and wood imported from India. King Abdulaziz Al Saud stayed here as a guest for three years after he captured Jeddah in nineteen twenty-five. A massive neem tree once stood in the courtyard, serving as the city’s only public gathering spot.
