Souk Al-Nada

Souk Al-Nada features a long, covered walkway lined with wooden storefronts that date back to the early days of Jeddah as a bustling port. Merchants once brought silks, spices, and perfumes here from across the Indian Ocean to trade with pilgrims on their way to Mecca. In the nineteen seventies, the city government considered demolishing the aging market. A local merchant named Mohammad Saleh Al-Qazzaz campaigned to save the structure, arguing the market held the soul of the city’s commercial history.
