Bayt Xenel

Bayt Xenel features walls built from thick coral limestone blocks and deep, carved wooden latticework windows known as roshan. This house stands in the heart of the Al Balad district, representing the traditional architecture of the Red Sea coast. In the early twentieth century, the merchant Mohammed Xenel housed his family and his thriving textile business here. He once entertained King Abdulaziz Al Saud in these rooms, hosting the monarch during his visits to Jeddah to discuss the city's expanding trade networks.
