The Miradoiro da Catedral is a stone terrace that projects from the edge of the old city, framed by a low iron railing. It marks the precise spot where the ground falls away, offering an unobstructed view of the cathedral towers rising above the granite rooftops. In the nineteen eighties, the city cleared a tangle of dilapidated sheds and uneven debris here to open this vantage point. Pilgrims have since gathered at this rail to catch their first clear sight of the destination.
