The Dispensary

The Dispensary on Renshaw Street wears a facade of ornate, dark green glazed tiles that stand out against the surrounding gray brick. It started life as the Apothecary for the Liverpool Homeopathic Dispensary in the nineteenth century, providing medicine to the city's poor. Patients would wait in the rooms behind those tiles for tinctures and powders mixed on-site. Today, the building serves as a public house, but the heavy mahogany fixtures and the original tiled walls remain inside.
