Dukes Ninety-Two sits right on the edge of the Bridgewater Canal, recognizable by the oversized, weathered sliding barn doors that open directly onto the water. Before it became a bar, the building functioned as a stable block for the horses that pulled canal barges in the nineteenth century. The lock keeper for the canal lived in the adjacent house, and these stables held the animals during their shift changes. Today, the converted stalls house the bar and its open terrace.
