Excelsior Playground Park

The Excelsior Playground features a central red-brick building with arched doorways that anchors the surrounding athletic fields. This site began as a volunteer effort by neighborhood residents in nineteen twenty-seven. They raised the funds and cleared the debris from a rugged plot of land themselves, determined to provide a dedicated space for children to play. The city later adopted the project, formalizing the park into the layout that remains today, complete with the courts and grass fields where residents still gather.
