Arlington Plaza sits tucked behind the historic Arlington Theatre, defined by its Spanish Colonial Revival fountain and a quiet, tiled courtyard. It opened in nineteen thirty-nine, commissioned by theater owner Mary Elizabeth Dickinson to serve as an elegant transition between the street and the movie palace. While the nearby theater draws crowds for film festivals, the plaza remains a private-public sanctuary. It provided a dedicated space for patrons to wait for shows, shielded from the noise of State Street by white stucco walls.
