The Tavern at Rainbow Row

The Tavern at Rainbow Row sits behind a facade of salmon pink stucco, distinguished by the black wrought-iron balconies that lace across its front. It occupies a space that once served as a counting house for merchants trading along the harbor in the late seventeen hundreds. During the nineteen thirties, preservationist Susan Pringle Frost purchased the property to save it from demolition. She painted it that signature shade of pink, turning a derelict warehouse into the anchor for this historic stretch of East Bay Street.
