Dock Street Theatre

The Dock Street Theatre features a distinct wrought iron balcony stretching across its second-story facade, set against a classic Georgian brick exterior. This building marks the site of the first structure in America built specifically for theatrical performances back in seventeen thirty-six. After fire and decay took the original, the current building rose during the Great Depression. Actors from the Charleston Footlight Players occupied the space, working under the federal Works Progress Administration to bring the historic stage back to life.
