The Pink House on Chalmers Street stands out for its stuccoed, pale pink facade and the gambrel roof that dips low over the sidewalk. Built around seventeen twelve, it is one of the oldest stone buildings in the city. The house served as a tavern during the eighteenth century, attracting sailors and travelers from the nearby harbor. Its rough texture and peculiar shape come from the use of Bermuda stone, a material rarely seen in the rest of the historic district.
