Kallison Love Lock Walk Bridge

The Kallison Love Lock Walk Bridge is a slender pedestrian crossing over the San Antonio River. It holds thousands of brass and steel padlocks, each inscribed with names, dates, or messages from couples who fastened them to the wire mesh railing. In nineteen seventy-eight, the bridge replaced a long-standing wooden structure and took its name from a nearby nineteenth-century livestock business. Couples throw the keys into the water below, a custom meant to symbolize a commitment that cannot be undone.
