Presa Street Bridge

The Presa Street Bridge spans the San Antonio River with a distinctive pair of arched, decorative streetlamps that mark its profile against the skyline. Built in nineteen thirty-nine, this structure replaced an older iron span to accommodate the growing downtown traffic. Engineer Robert Hugman designed the bridge as part of his larger effort to transform the river from a drainage ditch into a public walkway. He insisted on incorporating local limestone to ensure the bridge felt like a natural extension of the riverbank.
