San Pedro WordArt

The San Pedro WordArt installation stands as a series of oversized, bright yellow metal letters spelling out San Pedro Creek. It occupies the edge of the creek's concrete channel, designed to mark the historic path of the waterway through downtown. Artist Stuart Allen created the piece to reconnect city residents with the creek, which had been paved over and largely forgotten for decades. A heavy rainstorm once pushed the creek over its banks here, leaving the letters partially submerged in murky brown water.
