The Gunter Hotel, San Antonio Riverwalk, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

other

The Gunter Hotel wears a facade of white brick and terra cotta that occupies the corner of Houston and Saint Mary's streets. In nineteen thirty-six, a blues musician named Robert Johnson sat in room four hundred fourteen of this building. He recorded thirteen songs over three days, including Terraplane Blues, into a microphone set up by a record company talent scout. Johnson left town shortly after, and he never returned to record again before he died the following year.
