Historic Chinatown Gate

The Historic Chinatown Gate stands forty-five feet tall, constructed of steel and covered in ornate ceramic tiles. Its four dragon-wrapped pillars support a green tiled roof that mimics traditional Chinese architecture. The city installed this structure in two thousand and eight to mark the entrance to the historic district. During the planning, local artists and officials debated the design for months, eventually settling on this specific imperial style to honor the residents who moved into this neighborhood during the late nineteenth century.
