Kobe Terrace

A low stone wall curves around the southern edge of Kobe Terrace, marking the boundary of a park built on what was once the backyard of a hotel. In the nineteen seventies, neighbors fought to save this sloping hillside from development, eventually securing the land for a public garden. A stone lantern, a gift from Kobe, Japan, stands near the path. It commemorates the sister city relationship formed after the Second World War, sitting quietly among the pine trees that now shade the grass.
