Wing Luke Museum

The Wing Luke Museum occupies a brick building with a faded, painted sign for the Freeman Hotel still visible on its upper facade. This was once a residential hotel for immigrant workers who were barred from living elsewhere in Seattle. In nineteen ninety, Wing Luke’s niece and a group of community activists bought the structure to preserve the history of Asian Pacific Islander families. They found abandoned trunks and handwritten letters left behind in the rooms by men who had long since passed away.
