Central Saloon

The Central Saloon is distinguished by its narrow, three-story brick facade topped with a curved parapet, wedged tightly between its neighbors. Established in eighteen eighty-nine, it survived the Great Seattle Fire that leveled the rest of the neighborhood that same year. Prospectors headed for the Klondike Gold Rush packed into this room to trade gold dust for whiskey. A heavy oak bar stretches across the back wall, marked by the deep scratches of gold scales that once sat upon its surface.
