The SOIL Artist Run Gallery features a plain, industrial storefront with a rotating display of contemporary work visible through the glass. Established in nineteen ninety-five, this gallery began when a group of artists wanted a space to exhibit their own experimental projects without the pressure of commercial sales. They formed a cooperative, sharing the rent and the labor of running the gallery themselves. Every year, new members join and others leave, keeping the collective evolving through its decades in Pioneer Square.
