Jewelbox Theater

The Jewelbox Theater sits tucked behind a plain brick facade on Second Avenue, identifiable by a small, unassuming marquee that hints at the vintage grit within. This space began its life as a screening room for film industry professionals in the nineteen thirties, featuring plush, velvet-draped walls and narrow, theater-style seating. Filmmaker Rick Stevenson once held private previews here, and the theater remains a rare, intact artifact of Seattle’s independent cinema culture from an era when projectionists still operated from heavy, iron-clad booths.
