The Center for Wooden Boats

The Center for Wooden Boats sits on the edge of Lake Union, identifiable by the collection of classic wooden sailboats bobbing against the weathered wooden docks. Dick and Colleen Wagner started this place in the nineteen seventies when they opened their own small boat rental shop to the public. They insisted that visitors sail these traditional craft themselves instead of keeping them behind glass. People still row and sail these restored vessels across the lake today, just as they did fifty years ago.
