A massive, curved roof floats above the Seattle Center grounds, held up by four concrete pylons that appear to defy gravity. This structure is the former site of the nineteen sixty-two World’s Fair arena. Architects preserved that iconic, sweeping roof during a massive reconstruction project that buried the entire interior deep underground. The arena now houses the Seattle Kraken, with a state of the art cooling system buried beneath the ice that utilizes captured rainwater for the rink.
