Mural Amphitheatre at Seattle Center

The Mural Amphitheatre is identified by a massive, colorful mosaic wall that serves as the permanent backdrop for its outdoor stage. It was designed for the nineteen sixty-two World's Fair, known as the Century twenty-one Exposition. Paul Horiuchi created the mural by piecing together over nine hundred shards of Venetian glass and steel, a task that required him to work through the night for months. It held the crowds during the fair and remains a functional community space today.
