Pacific Science Center

The Pacific Science Center features a series of tall, white, concrete arches that curve toward the sky like oversized tuning forks. Originally built as the United States Science Pavilion for the nineteen sixty-two World’s Fair, the architect Minoru Yamasaki designed these structures to feel like a modern gothic cathedral dedicated to space-age discovery. While thousands of visitors wandered these pools during the fair, the most lasting legacy remains the building itself, which has served as a permanent home for scientific curiosity ever since.
