The Bolands Centre features a distinctive white facade topped by a curved, decorative parapet that stands out against the surrounding Cairns skyline. This building began as the Bolands Hardware Store, founded by Irish immigrant Michael Boland in the early twentieth century. It became the primary supply hub for miners and farmers across the region. When the original structure burned down, the family rebuilt it with an eye for permanence, installing the reinforced concrete walls that house offices and shops today.
