Art Gallery of South Australia

The Art Gallery of South Australia stands out for its grand classical facade, featuring a row of heavy Corinthian columns that hold up a distinct triangular pediment. Established in eighteen eighty-one, the gallery started as a small collection in two rooms of the public library. When the current building opened in nineteen hundred, it housed only a handful of paintings. Since then, the collection has grown to include over forty-seven thousand objects, ranging from colonial Australian portraits to ancient Asian ceramics.
