The Urban Orchard in Perth consists of a series of portable planter boxes filled with fruit trees, situated on the edge of the Perth Cultural Centre. It appeared in twenty fourteen as part of a temporary project to bring food production into the middle of the city. While many inner-city gardens occupy permanent soil, these trees move on trailers when the city needs the concrete for events. Local volunteers and staff harvest the citrus, figs, and stone fruits when they ripen.
