The house on the corner of Rakovski and Moskovska streets wears a stone face protruding from the second-story facade, staring down at the sidewalk. Built in nineteen oh five for the wealthy merchant Ivan Georgiev, the building features elaborate floral motifs and rounded balconies that define its secessionist style. Legend claims the sculpted head represents a thief who was caught climbing the wall, though others argue it marks the face of the architect's wife. It remains a striking fixture in downtown Sofia.
