Portal de los dulces

A long row of thick, arched stone pillars supports the shaded walkway of the Portal de los Dulces. Behind these columns, vendors sell traditional Colombian sweets made from coconut, tamarind, and arequipe. This space once functioned as a bustling gateway where merchants traded goods arriving at the harbor. In the late nineteenth century, local women began setting up small tables here to sell sugary treats to passersby. The tradition persists today, passed down through generations of families who maintain their designated spots under the arches.
