Calle de la Sierpe

Calle de la Sierpe displays a row of weathered colonial houses distinguished by their heavy wooden balconies and vivid, peeling paint. While the rest of Getsemaní evolved into a tourist hub, this street retained the grit of the nineteen twenties, when it served as the center for labor unions and radical politics. Pedro Nel Gómez painted murals on these walls that vanished decades ago, but the street keeps the memory of his strikes, when workers met here to challenge the city's power structures.
