Bernard Vukas - Bajdo

The life-size bronze statue of Bernard Vukas, known to everyone in Split as Bajdo, stands near the entrance to Poljud Stadium. He holds a football at his feet, captured in mid-stride. Vukas played for Hajduk Split for over a decade, starting in nineteen forty-seven. During a game against Partizan in nineteen fifty-two, he scored a goal so precise that the opposing fans stood up and applauded him. He remains the only player to have represented the FIFA World XI three separate times.
