Marjan viewpoint

The Marjan viewpoint sits atop a steep limestone ridge, marked by a massive white stone cross and a panoramic terrace overlooking the Adriatic. People call it the lungs of Split because of the dense Aleppo pine forest that blankets the slopes. In nineteen twenty-five, a local association of hikers and climbers cleared this specific outcrop to give townspeople a direct line of sight to the harbor. They lugged heavy timber and stone up the narrow goat paths to secure the railing themselves.
