Fountain + Cup

The Fountain and Cup stands in the center of Prokurative Square, recognizable by the bronze relief of a chalice atop a stone pedestal. It functions as a public water source, though its design honors the long tradition of communal gathering spaces in Split. Architect Ivan Rendic sculpted the original piece in the late nineteenth century to provide fresh water during the city's urban expansion. Citizens gathered here for daily news long before newspapers arrived, making the basin a central point for local social life.
