The massive portrait of Frane Matošić staring down from the side of the building is defined by the sharp, intense lines of his face painted in deep shades of blue and white. Matošić remains the greatest goalscorer in the history of Hajduk Split, having netted over seven hundred goals for the club. In the nineteen forties, he once famously defied an order from authorities to integrate his team with players from another city, choosing instead to keep his squad together.
